Quietly does it

I'm Alexander 30 now married 1 child and one on the way. I come from a well to do family I E rich and always have been. I've always been quiet and reserved, not shy just not out going you could say. I didn't go to university as I didn't want too and preferred the family estate to the city. But at the age of 24 I had to go and check on a property of my great uncle Raymond who had passed away and as a surprise to me had left it in his will to me. But my father Richard already knew I would inherit as he was Raymond's lawyer and told me I got because he knew I wouldn't sell it or develop it. I also got shares and cash on top. Others in the family got shares and cash also, but the property was Raymond's pride and joy and he wanted it kept as is. I arrived at the 42 acre property the 6 bedroom 3 bathroom house was old (1856)but well kept with out buildings and a barn no animals at all. Raymond had lived alone had a housekeeper 3 days a week and he was very active until he passed away. Unsure what I would do with the property and being teased by my older brother Richard about becoming a hermit. I said I might become a hillbilly instead and he answered no hills there brother. There's a small town 7 miles from the property and that's where housekeeper lived. She still came to clean the house, but she had given notice as she and her husband were moving away for his work. I had to find another housekeeper to continue the housework, but no local wanted the job. Anyway I looked over the property and liked what I saw and it had a 5 acre pond or lake manmade by Raymond many years ago. I decided I could live there no problem and it wasn't a surprise to my family I would like to live there. I advertised for a housekeeper and got no replies at all. Finally my sister Katherine started looking for me and found Elaine 49 widow and her daughter Elizabeth 23 single (only Child). Elizabeth had asthma and had get of the city to cleaner country air and both were willing to work for a single wage as well as room and board. They were hired by Katherine but on 2 wages as gardening was added to their workload. I was in the process of getting horses (5) 4 from a shelter and mine from the family estate, my old dog Mutt came as well and some poultry and I built a chicken run near the barn. Two of the bedrooms and a bathroom were on the ground floor and probably was servant quarters in the past. So Elaine and Elizabeth could have them. We all settled in together and I would come and go for several months after moving there, as I was finishing a project on the family estate. Two days a week I would go and check on the other project. Elizabeth would look after the animals while I was away, Mutt took to her and wouldn't be far away from her even when I was home. I also took a liking to her and got more attracted to her as time passed. When the estate project was finished I rarely left the property thereafter. I asked Elaine would she mind me asking Elizabeth out and she said go for it and so I did and she said no. I was stunned at the quick refusal and then she smiled and said just kidding yes I'll go out with you. Not much to go to in the area and a trip to city wasn't good for Elizabeth health. So we went to and opened air cinema and continued our dating by horse riding and finally sleeping together and after several months I asked her to marry me and she accepted. Followed by a large family wedding at the property and Elaine resigning her job. At my father's suggestion, he said she was family now and therefore not a servant and so instead of wages she would get a family allowance more than her previous wages and so Elaine and Elizabeth would still what they did before but as family members and Elaine was happy with that. They were both welcomed into the family and my mother Nancy became as thick as thieves with Elaine and would go on shopping trips together especially after Elizabeth go pregnant. Nancy became a regular visitor and her and Elaine keep hinting about more grandchildren. My father sees them talking together, he tells me lookout they're up to something. I like my life on the property with my family and had to add extra 2 rooms for my family visits. Elaine came back last week with a puppy as Mutt is getting very old and she wants to always have a dog on the property. Mutt likes the pup and it climbs all over him and Elizabeth has to put it in another room to give a rest. Mutt is now always next Elizabeth and Mutt2 as the puppy was called isn't that far away either usually trying to get to Mutt when in another room. Baby Alexander (2) also loves to be around Mutt and also has to be moved at times.
