My father died of a heart attack March 2022, it was sudden and fatal. Years of smoking and heavy drinking and doing drugs can do that to you. It was his first heart attack, and for him that was it. But for all his drinking, smoking and minor drug use he was a good father to me. My mother 47 was 8 years younger than my father and was left shattered by his sudden demise. I'm their only child and at 25 was doing okay in my career as a electrician and was dating, but not in a long-term relationship. I was living at home and saving for my own home when I finally met the woman I would marry. My mother was slowly getting herself back together and I was going along as was usual for me. Then last Christmas eve, I was on call that weekend. But it was rare to get called out on weekends in our town. But it wasn't unknown, so being on call I wasn't paid unless I was called out. I was between girlfriends and so went to bed as normal for me. Then my mother came in and asked me if I would help her out. I said I would and got out of bed to go and help her, she led me to her room, and I waited for her to tell what she needed help with. Her cousin is 23 single and lives as carer with her invalided mother my mother's first cousin. My mother thinks we could all live together in our house, but they are in the next state and my mother is still working out her how get them to live with us at the moment.
