My Niece

I was away for 18 years making my fortune as they say, never married and return home set for life. When I left my parents and grandparents were already deceased and I was just 19 and only had an older sister left who was married and already had a daughter. Not much contact while was away, I was lucky I met an old Irishman who like adventure and was fairly lucky to boot as they say. He was the main reason I returned as he'd passed away (stroke) in 2021 but he admitted to being 70 at the time, by his passport said 79. He was an old rogue he was up to anything especially if there was money to be made. He made lots of money but spent it almost as fast as he got it. Thru his help I made my fortune, and he made sure I kept it, saying I was young enough still to follow my dream. I'd told I wanted to buy some land and retire not needing to work again. But I still paid my way and with old friend gone I made the arrangements he wanted for his funeral and then finalized our last business adventure. Returning home in early 2022, I only had a very old address for my sister and her family, but they had moved years earlier. I searched online census records (2020) and found their address the next town down the road from the last place they had lived in. I arrived at the address (March) and found a vacant lot; it was cleared for redevelopment in early 2021 and the redevelopment had now been delayed. I quickly found a new address for them, several blocks away. I arrived and met my niece 20, who gave me the bad news my sister and her father were both deceased (car accident December 2021) and she was living alone in the family home. We only had a quick talk as she was on her way to one of her jobs, I drove her to her job in my rental car instead of her just walking. I said I would see again the next day, I booked into the only motel and then got flowers and went to the cemetery paid my respects to my late sister and her husband. Then as I liked the looks of the town decided to check on available properties for sale. Nothing that suited me close by, but a few extra miles there was the perfect place 564acres included a 4bedroom house, barn, extra sheds and chicken run with good fencing. It was expensive and had been owned by some rich guy who had died of Covid, and his heirs were selling it, the animals and furniture were already sold. So, I saw it as a blank slate, I got it 15% cheaper than they were asking as they wanted it sold. Next, I bought a pickup now 38 (April 2022) I'd fulfilled my dream. My niece liked my place, and I invited her to live with me, she said she would think it over. But then lost one of her jobs, so decided why not live with me selling her own home and was fully moved in with me mid-May. She helped me get animals for my dream property horses chickens, turkeys and pigs. Later we got some goats as my niece saw how they kept weeds down. Of course we had gotten some dogs (3). Hanging out with my niece mostly and her mostly just with me, I hadn't been around her growing up. I didn't have the close family bond I think and at Christmas 2022 we became lovers, not planned just happened. But it snowballed as they say as she got pregnant and with no health problems with baby found. We just kept on sleeping together, she is again pregnant with our second due next year. Happy with our lifestyle and have no plans on changing anything.
