She asked me out

I'm nothing special in looks or build, but I'm financially well off and a have a successful career. At 36 (2021) I was still single and in no relationship and had given up trying to have a girlfriend. I focused on my career and avoided company gatherings, lucky for me I'd a sick aunt (cancer). My aunt was a big shareholder of the company I worked like myself, and her illness was well known. So, I would visit my aunt instead of going to the company's events and I usually visited her several times a week anyway. I'm also her only living relative I know of, and we've been close all my life especially since my past away in 2011. She lives in a care facility, and I live fairly close by, her cancer is under control I was told. But I'm happier without going the gatherings which my aunt also realizes. But my absence of a girlfriend hadn't gone unnoticed, a woman (then 28) who works for the company was in financial distress and like me no relationship. Seeing me as a sort of financial lifeline at first, she thought she might get close to me. Hoping to improve her career chances at least, every chance she got she started interacting with me. But with the end of the year gathering coming up she asked would I go with her as she didn't want to go alone. I was at first shocked that she would want to go with me, and I'd already said to my superiors I wouldn't be attending as was usual for me. I told her I would be visiting my aunt, and she said we could do both and then attend the gathering. She is quite a good looker, and I must confess my ego was boosted by her asking me to accompany her. So, I agreed not expecting much to happen and thinking it was just a one-off thing. My aunt liked her very much and asked her to visit with me again and she agreed, I thought maybe I might have a small chance at that. I did enjoy the gathering a lot more than I expected too. She stayed with me the whole time we were there, not just until had arrived together and then separated. I saw more each day afterwards and finally asked her out on a date and she accepted. Early in the new year I was promoted, more to do with senior staff getting Covid and passing away then my actual abilities at the time. My new position came with a personal assistant and the previous PA was reassigned to other to replace one retiring. So, able to employ my own and decided to keep it inhouse as they say. My girlfriend you could say as we were still dating and no sexual relation as of then. But she came with me every visit to my aunt and my aunt looked forward to seeing her. Finally, we became lovers after I made a clumsy move on her and she had decided it was time we became lovers. Then I'd to attend a meeting interstate with the CEO a last-minute thing requiring my attendance. My PA/girlfriend wasn't also required as the CEO's pa would be there and so she stayed home and visited my aunt for me. On my return her lease was about up and at my aunt's suggestion she moved in with me, her financial woes had been eased by her promotion. But she still dated me and slept with me, I was happy and trying very hard not to stuff it up. It was my aunt who asked us straight when we were marrying and my girlfriend said I hadn't asked her to marry. With the focus now on me I said I didn't want to stuff up our relationship, by being too quick to propose. My aunt said rubbish and my girlfriend agreed with her, so I asked her there and then and got a yes. Now engaged and under pressure from my aunt to marry asap, we married at the bedside of my aunt a month later. Now married and trying for our first child and my aunt's health improving enough she moved in with us. Now my wife is pregnant again and my aunt is still in remission, life is a lot better than before for every one of us. My aunt has a fulltime nurse who also watches my daughter, while my wife and I are at work.
