Chance Meeting

I (now 58) moved to my new hometown in 2015 and made a great friend and sadly in November 2021 he died of cancer. His wife (now 55) is a quiet woman by nature, and I had hardly spoken with her in all the time I knew her husband. At his funeral I spoke with her and gave my condolences to her and her son and his family. The son and his family going to live with his mother, I was told. anyway, I had no contact with them after that for over a year. I go shopping on Saturdays without fail, rain or shine I go. Early last year, I went shopping and it had started raining fairly heavily. On entering the supermarket, I saw my late friend's wife standing near the entrance. So, I went and said hello, I thought she was waiting for her son or his wife to bring the car to the entrance. But she wasn't, her son had transferred away, and she was living alone and was waiting for the rain to stop so she could walk home. I said I'll get my things, and I'll drive her home as it wasn't going to stop raining anytime soon. I got everything I wanted and took her to my car using my umbrella and drove her home. I was invited in for a coffee and we talked for a while then I went home. I told her I shopped on Saturday every week and would take her with me if she wanted me too, she accepted. So, I started taking her every Saturday and would then have coffee with her afterwards. After several months I won a third prize tickets to a comedy show for two. So, I asked her if she would like to accompany me, and she said OKAY. We had a great time, and I got her home about a 11pm and was invited in for coffee. As she made the coffee we talk as was usual for us, when she brought me my coffee, she suddenly kissed me. I was a little shocked at first but kissed her back and I got home at 2pm next afternoon having spent the night with her. We became regular lover thereafter and were together most of the time. I decided to ask her to marry me, and she accepted, and it was perfect timing as her son had gotten a promotion and transfer back. We married and she moved in with me giving her home to her son and his family. If not for a rainy Saturday Chance Meeting, we wouldn't met again and never married.
